I love teaching about quilts. As a former high school math and English teacher I have created hundreds of instructional articles about quilts with my one simple rule: make it easy to understand and help every quilter be confident that he/she can make that same project, too! Math is not a dirty word, because I do alot of it for you. All workshops are based on projects, but I cover a LOT of tips, tricks and sewing techniques during the workshop time.All quilts on these pages were made by me and belong to me. Yikes! Those Stripes - Stripping and slicing fabric creates new blocks with geometric appeal. Of course, florals, solids and any other fabrics of your choosing work very well with this quickly satisfying technique. Here are two more quilts: Yikes 1 and Yikes 4
Tasty Leftovers - What to do with those luscious leftover strips? Here's a quilt with so much punch that it takes your breath away. Strips are sewn into sets then cut apart into squares and then .... Nothing could be easier. I also teach a neat trick for making it appear as though the blocks are set into the setting triangles - but it's all an illusion. I DO NOT sew y-seams. Only quick, rotary cut tricks to fool the eye!
Galaxy of Stars - More than enough for a weekend retreat - but I promise to fit it all in a 6 hour time frame.
Triangle Magic - So many triangles, so little time. But put them all together and you will learn just about everything you ever wanted to know in order to create half-square, quarter-square, Flying Geese, blocks, borders and how to put them all together.
Snow Crystals - Take one block - one very BIG block - and eliminate the traditional set in seams. Paper piece it AND have fun in the process.

One Block Wonders - Take one block, dress it up, give it some pretty trims, embellishments, folded fabric - and you have a One Block Wonder.
Rainbow Strips & Curves - This is a 2 for 1 class. Buy fabric for two quilts. The leftovers from the first quilt become the basis for the second. Both are VERY different from each other. Two fun and quick techniques that gives you a lot of bang for the buck.
Hearts on Fire & Cookie Cutter Bonanza - Pick one of 11 simple, cookie cutter shapes. Cut basic rectangles from fat quarters. As the blocks take shape you finally discover the clever little secret to how these blocks appear to be so difficult - and they are SO EASY!
Facets of Color - Wow! A great big block to use with those great big floral prints. So much is packed into this quilt. You will learn several techniques (click the link to read the descriptive). And you'll discover how much fun it is to make BIG blocks.
Royal Star - Still a block buster quilt. Not up to making the big quilt? I have samples of table runners and one-block wonders made using the Royal Star block. We learn paper piecing MY WAY - the easy way and with minimal fabric waste. And you learn how to make your own patterns without a copy machine - just the most liberating way to a batch of perfect foundations!
Fair Play My Way - This can be cute for a child or elegant for any formal living space. I have simplified the 100 year old pattern and you will be delighted to play with all the donuts and circles. Very fat quarter friendly.
Winding Ways - Who says you have to set in all those cantankerous curves and angles? Make it my way. Of course, learning my Magical Mitering method for that striped border is included!
Dogwood Blossom - Boo Hoo! The original quilt was stolen. So, I made another. And I liked it even more the second time because I made it even simpler. Learn easy paper piecing, working with curved blocks with no tears and hair-pulling. I teach reverse appliqué by machine
Spiro-Glyphics - Learn paper piecing, raw edge appliqué, working with black fabrics, the dynamics of brights and batiks, my Magical Mitering method for the borders, and how to figure out perfect triangles for setting blocks on point. An action/knowledge packed workshop!
Tessellating Stars - Still a favorite class. In just 3 hours you will not only unravel the mystery of these interlocking stars, but will probably finish most of your 9 block quilt! How much fun is that? I have quite a few samples in a variety of colorways.
Hexagon Bullseye - Still a favorite with my students. 60 degree angles were never so much fun. Raw edge appliqué techniques.
Carpenter's Wheel - Yes, there are NO set in seams. This class teaches paper piecing with all straight sewing. Dynamic 3 color quilt. Learn my Magical Mitering method for your borders.
