What exciting classes am I teaching at the Georgia Quilt Show, October 16-18?

1. Your First Mariner's Compass - Yes, you CAN make this single 16" block with ease. Pre-cut strips and 4 simple units to paper piece the spikes will give you the confidence to work with a circular block. Gentle curves are set into the background, add borders and you have a 25" wall hanging.

2. Magic Stax : The Blocks Are in the Squares - Working with pre-cut 10-1/2" squares, we stack 'em, slice 'em, swap 'em, and sew 'em into REAL blocks. No random cutting - No templates, NO waste, and NO sweat! Perfect points, too! Two stacks give us 10 blocks, using 9 in a small quilt for a child or wall (border fabrics are included). This technique is addictive.

3. Stained Glass Pickup Sticks - Using the same technique as Magic Stax, but with a different cutting schematic, we will add thin strips of black fabric to the mix to create blocks that resemble stained glass. Two stacks make 8 blocks which are perfect for a table runner (borders are included). See my larger version here.

4. Cookie Cutter Bonanza - Tasty shapes with NO calories! Students select 1 of 4 happy designs (heart, leaf, tree or flower) and make blocks using raw edge applique techniques. Most students finish their 4 block centers in our class time.

5. Home Stretch: What It Takes to Finish Your Quilts - I make dozens of quilts each year (in 2006, I made over 60 quilts with 54 published!). How do I finish them so fast? Why, with my sewing machine, of course! We will start with a pre-quilted sample and learn quick - and simple - ways to add binding, rod pockets, and labels - all by machine. You WILL be inspired and have several "Aha!" moments, I promise.

You can see all of these class projects at the Georgia Quilt Show website: www.georgiaquiltshow.com

***My kits are made with ONLY the very best quilt shop fabric.
