Cookie Cutter Bonanza

Design Workshop (3 hours)

There is so much fun in this workshop because everyone is working with a different set of cookie cutters! (They're not real cookie cutters, but patterns that sew up as though you had used a cookie cutter!). Besides the two quilts pictured above, I have my popular Hearts On Fire, Butterflies, (just one Butterfly block) Trees #1, Trees #2, Toast/Bread (remember the tune: "I like bread and butter; I like toast and jam."), and several more in the works. Click here to see the 11 shapes available!

We begin with each student selecting a pattern (must be chosen ahead of time so that fabrics can be collected to be brought to class). Then I teach the basic technique which works with every single pattern. We cut and stitch the first half of the workshop and then the second half we consider setting and border options. Instructions are included for several.

These are excellent sewn up in batiks because of the rich textures and colors, but will work very well with quilter's cottons. My quilts are NOT sewn with fusible webbing, but that is discussed as a workable option. Also, the use of lightweight, fusible interfacing keeps edge-fraying to a minimum when regular cottons are used. Each student decides and then the playing begins! Full supply list with detailed information will be sent well ahead of the class.
